I pray this post finds you well! I would like to share with you a Christmas poem I wrote for a friend a couple of years ago. It is appropriately titled “The Friend,” first referring to the general idea of a friend, and then pointing the reader towards the truest friend of all, Jesus. However, I am omitting my friend’s name for privacy reasons.
I don’t claim to be great at writing poetry, but I hope you enjoy its simplicity.
“The Friend”
“Someone who listens, someone to trust; Someone whose presence is an absolute must. A friend you can count on, a friend is to share Much of life’s worries, troubles, and care.
Though we have many friends who’ll come and go, There is one Great Friend whom you already know. His love is enduring, His friendship is true; His light is a beacon inside of you.
His light is what drew shepherds one Holy Night, And He lights us a path through our sorrows and strife. He won’t let us down, though other friends can; He speaks kind words while holding our hand.
A friend is a gift, a joy, and a song To lift you in prayers and help you along. I thank God for blessing you into my life, And thank you ___ for your friendship in Christ.”
Praying this holiday season is filled with beauty and friendship, especially the most beautiful gift of Christ’s friendship. Merry Christmas! ❤️💚
