Merry Christmas, everyone! Ok, so Christmas is over now, but we can still celebrate the spirit of Christmas any day of the year! First off, I want to praise God for blessing me with another day to write, and above all for sending His Son Jesus Christ that we might have salvation and spend eternity with God!
I’m going to jump right into it: this book was AMAZING! Lord willing, I will read this every year at Christmastime. Charles Dickens’ eloquence of expression and detail is incredible. He easily keeps you invested in the story personally by placing the reader in the mindset of examining ourselves in light of Scrooge’s experiences. Before reading A Christmas Carol, I had no idea Charles Dickens was a dedicated Christian. After learning that, I viewed the story in a new light. Dickens references many qualities Christians need to have, and shows the detrimental effects of not employing these qualities. I also truly enjoyed the prose of the book. From my experience, when a story is written in a vocabulary and grammar not familiar to me (examples would be Pride and Prejudice, and of course A Christmas Carol), I’m going to invest more time and energy into reading and understanding the book, which in the end will help me to appreciate the story and the author all the more.
On another note, I was blessed with five new books for Christmas and Lord willing I will read twenty-one books this year (get it, because it’s 2021?)! I’m so excited to read the new ones and write more reviews for you all to enjoy.
Please tell me what you think about A Christmas Carol if you’ve read it, and if you haven’t, I highly suggest you do! Thanks for supporting my blog, and happy reading!
