It’s a pretty hectic time for people right now. Between fighting an invisible enemy called coronavirus, parents are also tasked with balancing their children’s education with some also working full time. Not to mention, many people can’t get basic necessities like milk, eggs, or even toilet paper. In this time of fear, when everyone is struggling to find hope, I remember the One who is still in control, no matter how chaotic life seems to be. I’m reminded of the passage of Scripture in Luke 8:22-25 when Jesus and His disciples sailed across a lake to Gadarenes. A storm came suddenly upon the lake, but Jesus was sleeping in the cabin below. Fearfully, the disciples ran to awaken Jesus, saying in verse 24 KJV, “Master, master, we perish!” Jesus didn’t react with fear or dread. No, again in verse 24, He simply “rebuked the wind and the raging of the water; and they ceased, and there was a calm.” Jesus proceeded to ask His disciples in verse 25, “Where is your faith?”
However difficult or perilous life may seem, we must have faith in the Lord who “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,” Ephesians 3:20 KJV. Only Jesus is able to calm the stormy seas of our hearts, and we must ask in faith, believing He will bring us through any difficulty. Romans 8:28 KJV says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” No matter the problem, Jesus always has the solution.

As for an update on what I’m reading right now, my current journey is into the land of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. I want to read as many classics as I can this year, and I’ll do my best to write a review after every book. So far, I am enjoying it immensely. It’s easy to relate to Elizabeth Bennet, and the characters have a certain charm about them that makes it clear why Pride and Prejudice is a classic.
Let me know in the comments what you’re currently reading, and if you have enjoyed any classics lately. Thanks for your continued support of my blog, and happy reading!
